3 Simple Tips to Spark Your Creativity

Let’s be honest: sometimes, the desire to create is there, but the flow is not. No ideas. No spark. Maybe you’ve been busy. Maybe your brain’s in overdrive (or feeling guilty about taking time for you). Maybe you’re just tired of feeling like you’re lost for ideas. 
But here’s the thing—getting back into the groove doesn’t need to be perfect. You don’t need to reorganize your craft room, buy new supplies, or set aside hours looking for inspiration. You just need a nudge. Something small that reminds you how fun and relaxing creating can be.
 Here are three simple ways to kick start your creativity you can use any time- even when you’re not stuck, but need something quick.

Shop Your Stash

Before you buy something new to reignite your creative energy, take a pause.
Walk over to your craft area and pull out one thing you haven’t touched in ages. A stamp set, a background die, a punch or an ink color you forgot you had. Use that, either on its own, or in conjunction with something else you’ve been meaning to use for a while.
Sometimes, inspiration doesn’t come from new stuff (as tempting as it is. It comes from rediscovering what you already love. Check out the Scrap Attack playlist on YouTube for ideas on using the scraps in your stash.
I am a demonstrator, and I have access to all kinds of pretty items, and the draw is STRONG sometimes. But. I also have my all-time favourites (hello, Lovely as a Tree). I keep going back to some of my older products, because 1) I love them, but also, 2) chances are you probably have the same thing, or something similar. What’s collecting dust in your stash that deserves a moment in the spotlight?

Give Yourself Permission to Play

This one’s the hardest—and the most important. You have a million things pulling you in a million different directions, and probably feel like you can’t (or shouldn’t?) make time for what you enjoy, because someone might need you. You need that time to reset, you need that connection with your creative self. Who cares if what you make isn’t perfect, off-centre, or crooked? That matters is that you took the time, took the chance, had a play, and you did it.
Creativity isn’t about perfection. It’s about playing. About making messes, experimenting, and letting go of expectations. Because when the pressure’s off, the creativity flows. That’s where the magic sneaks in. Are you able to take a few minutes at some point this week and just play?
