Colour of the week- Lost Lagoon

Sketches are such an awesome spot to start your inspiration journey. If you’re stuck for an idea, just open up the 2024-25 Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue to Page 22, and you’ll find a page full of sketch ideas. You can create multiples of the same design, or change things up by using different papers, stamps, inks and tweaking the layout to suit your mood.

Each of the cards are made using the Hooray for Surprises stamp set, the Heartfelt Hexagon punch, and Country Woods DSP.

Full confession- while I love the idea of ribbon, it’s not something I tend to use a ton of in my cards, so I usually leave it off. Twine works well, too, but I haven’t gotten any from the new catalogue yet. I also opted for the Heartfelt Hexagon punch- it is one of my favourites, and is usually on my desk. Each card has a base of Basic White, with a finished size of 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. The first cardstock layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″, and the Lost Lagoon layer is 3 3/4″ x 5″. Country woods was cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″. Each hexagon was punched from the Lost Lagoon layer, and an extra punched from Basic White.

For this one, the sentiment was stamped in Cajun Craze, and ink was applied around the edge by pressing the cardstock into the ink pad. One Lost Lagoon hexagon was added to help create the focal point.

This one was a bit of a stretch. I am completely out of Wild Wheat cardstock, but thankfully it is a colour in the Country Woods DSP- you can see it throughout, but especially in the lower right corner. Two of the hexagons were used for the sentiment base.

This one surprised me. I wasn’t sure how Moody Mauve and Lost Lagoon would look together, but it works! I stamped the small flower in the set all over the Country Woods paper, and did two on the sentiment. I think this paper will be a favourite for a while.
