I love a good fun fold, and even more so when it comes with some sleuthing! I saw this card while doing the mindless scroll on the book of faces a couple of weeks ago. I always stop and watch when I see creations by her (Katherina Tarta Crafts). There were no measurements on the video. So, off I went to figure it out.
Long ago, I learned that plain printer paper (or any scrap paper) is a life saver when trying to figure out how to create a fold. This one only took three tries. I’ve really been loving the A Little Latte paper from the online exclusives. This summer my Coffee & Cards classes will feature this paper. Can’t wait!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″ from each end
- Coordinating cardstock for punching
- Patterned paper 4″ x 8″ scored as shown in the diagram (check out the video, too)
- Patterned paper 1″ x 12″ for the belly band
- A Little Latte paper for fussy cutting
- Hexagon punch
- Dimensionals & Stampin’ Seal
- Softly Said stamp set
- Hooray for Surpises stamp set
- Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Fold the cardstock, and adhere the two strips to the front. Fold the patterned paper as shown in the graphic below. Add adhesive to the two outside triangles, and place on the card.
Create the belly band by wrapping the 1″ strip around the card, and fasten in the back. Punch four hexagons and adhere three to the front of the card. Decorate with the cups. Stamp the fourth hexagon with the sentiment of your choice, and adhere to the inside of the card.
I love how simple patterned paper makes cardmaking. A little truly goes a long way, and you can get so many cards out of a pack of patterned paper.
