Easy Card Making: One Stamp Set, Two Stunning Designs

If you’re short on time, supplies, or ideas, using a single stamp set is a great idea.

The challenge on my Facebook page today was to take one stamp set and ink colour to create a card. I wanted to show you that it can be super simple, or stepped up, depending on your mood.

Both of these cards use the Changing Leaves stamp set from Stampin’ Up! The one on the left uses Lost Lagoon ink and Wink of Stella. The card on the right was created with Cajun Craze and ink blending. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned stamper, these cards are easy, fun, and sure to impress.

Card 1: Clean, simple, and classy with Lost Lagoon

This look is perfect for when you need something quick but still want it to look amazing.

Supplies:

  • Stamp Set: Changing Leaves
  • Ink: Lost Lagoon
  • Cardstock: Basic White and Lost Lagoon
  • Embellishments: Party Dots
  1. Score and burnish a Basic White card base. Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer.
  2. On the 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer, use the large foliage stamp and Lost Lagoon ink. Stamp it slightly off-center on your card front. Now, you can either leave as-is, or use Wink of Stella to blend the ink, and add some shimmer.
  3. Stamp the sentiment on a strip of Lost Lagoon cardstock. Adhere it to the top of the image layer at an angle. Trim the sentiment even with the edge, and use dimensionals to attach it to the card base.
  4. Add a few Party Dots for a little extra sparkle.

This card is simple but stunning. Lost Lagoon give it a calming vibe, and the angled sentiment adds just the right amount of personality. Plus, it’s perfect for last-minute crafting. Don’t forget- you can switch this up with any stamp set, ink colour, and embellishment you desire.

Card 2: Stepped up

If you want something with a little bit more impact, this second version fits the bill. You’ll still use just one stamp set and one ink color, but the results are next-level.

You’ll need the Changing Leaves stamp set, Cajun Craze ink, Basic White cardstock, a blending brush, Party Dots, and dimensionals.

  1. Start with a Basic White card base. Use a blending brush to lightly add Cajun Craze ink around the edges. Remember to start off your base on a scrap piece of paper to avoid harsh lines.
  2. On another piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp the large foliage image multiple times. Don’t forget you can stamp a portion of the image on your base as well.
    • Single-stamp for bold color.
    • Double-stamp (stamp once on a scrap, then stamp on the cardstock layer again without re-inking) for a softer look.
    • Triple-stamp (stamp off twice onto a scrap then onto your card layer) to add some subtle depth.
  3. Once done stamping, lightly brush Cajun Craze ink over the entire panel with your blending brush. This ties everything together and also helps hide any accidental ink smudges put on the card.
  4. Adhere your stamped layer to the inked card base. Fancy, right?
  5. Add on some Party Dots for a little extra pizzazz.

With this option, the multi-step stamping creates depth, and the inked edges make the card feel polished and professional. Plus, Cajun Craze is the perfect color for autumn vibes. Not feeling Cajun Craze? Go crazy with another colour.
