Summer break has very nearly started in Manitoba. I was inspired to choose Summer Splash for colour of the week as a tribute to summer finally arriving.
When I sat down to create these cards, I had no idea where I was headed. I was not feeling inspired in the least. Then, I remembered that Iconic Imagery has a lovely, large celebrate sentiment that can be used for more than just Christmas.
Summer Splash is one of Stampin’ Up!’s new In Colors for 2024-26. It’s a bright, refreshing colour that reminds me of Coastal Cabana or Bermuda Bay.
The colours this week are pretty cohesive, and work well together. Pretty in Pink is also a 24-26 In Color, while the others have been around for a while.
Each of these cards have the same elements, but simply changing up the cardstock colour, or the orientation of the card give them a different look.
The card base for each is Summer Splash. The mat layers were cut at 3″ x 4 1/4″, and the sentiment layer is 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Of course, you can take each layer as inspiration, and add embossing, die cut shapes instead of just trimmed paper, and changing up the embellishments will also give it a different look. For these cards, I chose the Faceted Gems Trio pack. I used the Inspirational Sketches stamp set for the floral, and the soon-to-be released (July 3) online Exclusive set Iconic Images for the sentiment.
Using colour as your inspirational starting point can make a card come together easily. Check out the other colour combos for inspiration. I have even had cardstock on my desk that I didn’t intend to use together, but the combination just works.
Remember- creativity is a journey, and if you embrace it, you might just end up in a direction you were not intending.
