Triple time stamping, with a twist (Flashback Friday)

Triple time stamping looks complex, but it is really quite a simple technique that adds interest and dimension to your stamped images. I have done this technique in the past, and have stayed traditional, with three layers that are all centered. You can see that variation here. For today’s card, I wanted to change things up a bit with a different layout, and an additional layer. Inspirational Sketches was the stamp set I chose, and paired it with Boho Blue and Blueberry Bushel. You can see the entire supply list here.

Cut cardstock layers as follows:

Card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

Mat layers (Blueberry Bushel used here): 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, 4 1/2″ x 3 1/4″, 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″, and 2 1/2″ x 1 1/4″

Stamping layers (Boho Blue used here): 5 1/4″ x 4″, 4 1/4″ x 3″, 3 1/4″ x 3″ 2 1/4″ x 1″

Put the mat layers to the side. Apply a tiny bit of adhesive to the centre of each mat layer, and layer on top of each other as you would like them to look for the final card. Be sure that all of the layers, including the mat layer, stay within the boundary of the card base. The adhesive will prevent the layers from shifting as you stamp.

For this card, I first inked up the thatched image in Balmy Blue and randomly stamped. The sentiment was then inked on the smallest layer to ensure there would be enough room for it, then the floral image was randomly stamped all over the card front layers in Basic Gray. Don’t worry about the spaces between the layers- the mats will take care of that. You can colour the images, if desired.

Once the card layers are stamped, carefully remove the layers, and adhere to their corresponding base layer. Then, add each layer on top of each other, and add embellishments as desired. Check out the video. Please like and subscribe so you’re notified when more crafty goodness is posted.
